SOHAN BASSI, MD

Biography

Sohan Bassi, M.D. is a 1981 graduate of Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India, and completed his residency, (1986-1989) in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Infectious Diseases (1990-1991) in Chicago, Illinois. He became Board Certified in Infectious Diseases in 1992. Shortly thereafter, he co-founded Foothills Infectious Disease Medical Group, Inc, where he serves as President of what is now one of the largest private Infectious Disease practices in California. He joined the San Antonio Regional Hospital Medical Staff in 1992, is the Medical Advisor of Infectious Diseases, and served as President of the Medical Staff in 2004. He has been a Hospital Trustee at San Antonio Hospital since January 2016. He is a member of several Infectious Disease organizations. His interests include HIV, Travel Medicine, and Healthcare Associated Infections.

BEGUM, Nasima 2

NASIMA BEGUM, MD

Biography

Nasima Begum, MD, is a board-certified infectious disease physician. She graduated from Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh and completed her internal medicine residency and infectious disease fellowship at LAC+USC Medical Center. Dr. Begum is the mother of two children. She is passionate about empowering and uplifting women in the medical field. She enjoys mentoring and educating others, especially local medical students during their clinical rotations. Dr. Begum has been a partner at Foothills Infectious Disease Medical Group for over 25 years. She is a member of the Infectious Disease Association of California and the Infectious Disease Society of America. She is also affiliated with Emanate Health Queen of the Valley Hospital.

JIANG, Hua_2

HUA JIANG, MD

Biography

Dr. Hua Jiang is a board-certified Infectious Diseases specialist at USC Methodist Hospital, Arcadia, and Emanate Inter-Community Hospital, Covina.

A native of Shanghai, he graduated from Shanghai First Medical College (currently Shanghai Medical School, Fudan University) in 1983 as one of the top ten graduates in a class of more than 350 students. After graduation, he went on to specialize in Infectious Diseases at Hua Shan Hospital, a premier hospital in China, especially known for its Infectious Diseases program. In 1986, Dr. Jiang came to Harvard Medical School in Boston to work at the WHO Collaborative Research Laboratory for Bacterial Resistance Surveillance as a research scholar, studying mechanisms of bacterial resistance to antibiotics.

Following that work, Dr. Jiang completed his US medical residency at Brown University and his Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. During his fellowship, he conducted molecular virology research, primarily in EBV and its pathogenesis, at Channing Laboratories, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Jiang has been practicing Infectious Diseases in Arcadia since 1999. He lives in Arcadia with his wife. He enjoys photography, traveling, reading, plays violin and practices Chinese calligraphy, as a hobby.

JAYASEKARA, Deepthi_2

DEEPTHI JAYASEKARA, MD

Biography

Dr Jayasekara is a practicing board-certified Infection Diseases specialist for over 25 years in Southern California. He has been a partner at Foothill Infectious Disease Medical Group in Claremont for 22 years. After graduating from Colombo Medical School, University of Colombo Sri Lanka, he migrated to USA and completed Internal Medicine residency and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at University of Southern California. He also completed a 1-year post-doctoral work at UCSF in HIV related clinical Pharmacology. Dr Jayasekara is passionate about educating medical students and doctors and has
delivered many talks on various ID topics. He authored many Covid 19 related articles to local and international newspapers during the pandemic. He’s serving as a clinical professor at Western University, Pomona and chair of Infection Control at Emanate Health, San Dimas hospitals and Kindred Baldwin Park. He’s also an accomplished musician who played for few bands as a multi-instrumentalist and a vocalist focusing on 70’s and 80’s music.

KAREN GUIANG, DO

Biography

Dr. Karen Guiang is an established and highly skilled Specialty physician with over 10 years of experience in Infectious Diseases. She is well regarded in the Inland Empire, especially in the Upland/Rancho Cucamonga area, as a compassionate, accomplished physician who focuses on exceptional quality, patient-centered care. She is a member in good–standing of the Infectious Disease Association of California and the Infectious Disease Society of America. Currently, Dr. Guiang is on the Medical Staff of San Antonio Regional Hospital, Upland; Emanate Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, Glendora and Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare, Pomona.

In her spare time, Dr. Guiang enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family and friends.

ATIA SHAH, MD

Biography

Atia Shah, MD is a board-certified Specialist in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine. She is a partner at Foothills Infectious Disease Medical Group, Inc. in Claremont and provides general Infectious Disease care in the in-patient and out-patient setting. Dr Shah has a special interest in Orthopedics and soft tissue/skin infections. She has additional training in Wound Care and administration of Hyperbaric
Oxygen therapy (HBO). She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Loma Linda University and Infectious Disease Fellowship at University of California, Irvine. She has held leadership roles at USC Arcadia Hospital and participated in multiple committees including Infection Control, Peer Education, Antibiotic Stewardship and MD Professionalism. She has been nominated “Top Doctor for Pasadena Magazine” by her peers. Dr Shah believes that listening to the patient is the key to arriving at the correct diagnosis. As healthcare becomes more fragmented Dr. Shah believes in focusing on the entire person to provide comprehensive, evidence-based medical care for her patients.
